House of Habit

While reading this months (final) edition of Metropolitan Home, I came across these unique, custom made furniture legs.  Designers can customize each leg by choosing the height, color and material.  They can be shipped to a furniture maker or used to update existing pieces of furniture. This product is available to the Trade only. A few of my favorites from House of Habit:

Would you do this in your home?

After seeing the fish tank toilet that I previously posted, I figured there must be other weird/cool ( ?) design elements using fish tanks. My husband has been jokingly wanting a unique fish tank built into a railing in our home that looks from our entry down to our basement and so I decided to see what is out there in they way of fish tanks. I've been pretty iffy on whether or not these tanks are cool or just plain tacky. Although these first few images are okay, I'm still leaning towards tacky. What do you think? I'll let you decide for yourself...

New iPhone App

Yesterday I stumbled across this cool new iPhone app from Benjamin Moore. Basically all you do is take a picture of anything around you and the Ben Color Capture iPhone App will show the closest matching paint colors from Benjamin Moore. Shaking the phone gives you coordinating colors for your project and then the phone will use its GPS to find you the nearest Benjamin Moore retailer. How awesome is that? Now all I have to do is get a few paying clients so that I can afford this phone! Wouldn't it be so amazing to not have to lug around your fan decks all the time and instead just whip out your iPhone and snap a picture of your surroundings and find the perfect palette? My husband has been a huge fan of this phone for a long time and now I am officially sold! This app should be available for free June 1st at the Apple App store.
